Seam sealing & waterproofing
Every stitched seam is a hole in a waterproof shell. Taping closes them, panel by panel, so the garment performs as one surface.
How it works
Every stitched seam in a waterproof shell is a line of needle holes. Seam sealing closes them with heat-activated tape applied to the inside of the seam, so the garment performs as one continuous surface rather than a set of panels.
- Seam is sewn
The panel seam is sewn and pressed flat so the tape has an even bed to sit on.
- Tape is applied
Heat-activated tape is run along the seam under controlled heat and pressure.
- Detail areas are taped
Zipper ends, hood channels and pocket openings are taped separately, with dots where seams cross.
- Checked before wash
Sealed garments are checked before wash to confirm the tape has bonded across its full width.
